Rain and Snow All Week

Alan arrived Tuesday night . . . in the rain . . . and it basically hasn't stopped since. Great for the drought, and the plants love it, but it's too bad he can't get any warm sun this week!I had Thursday morning off and we had just enough time before I had to go to work to drive to Ojai a little past Wheeler Gorge to see the snow. The clouds parted just enough for us to see a little in the higher elevations above us - not much higher, maybe 1000 feet - while we stood below in the rain. Autumn Arrived

First the wind and rain . . . Then more rain . . . . . . and then the seasons (and the flowers) changed!

It Rained (and Even Snowed!)

We finally got some rain - a good amount at a nice pace - the first since early December. We got 2 1/2 inches this past weekend and the plants are loving it. The bulbs are finally beginning to send up shoots (the yellow daffodils are usually blooming by now), a dutch iris has bloomed, and one hyacinth is opening.
Although it didn't feel that cold in Ventura, it must have been cold in Ojai and Santa Paula last night because the mountains were covered in snow this morning. It even stayed cold enough to last all day and I could see the snow from our new mezzanine at work.This morning's snow was really beautiful, but the sunrise and morning sky were spectacular!
